Pottery Summer Camp is back!
July 16-20 and/or July 23-27, 2018
After a 5 year hiatus where I was busy with other projects, and in particular helping to start General Fine Craft with Richard Skrobecki: ( check out THE place to buy gorgeous Canadian Craft: www.generalfinecraft.com) , I am ready to invite a limited number of students to my riverside studio to be immersed in the world of clay for 2- 1 week sessions.
What to expect:
Having a stress free, fun time.
All levels welcome: Including no previous experience.
10 am- 4 pm days spent in my riverside garden, outdoor teaching space by the beautiful Mississippi River near Almonte : a 35 min. drive west of Ottawa
I will be teaching from 10 am to 4 pm, but come early, have a swim, read, work on your own, grab a cup of coffee and muffin. Bring a lunch to eat in the quiet of the house or garden or in the sun on the dock. Stay on to mull over your day. Don't rush what you have been working on after class. A full week allows you to really cement your skills and work out ideas. Learn how to approach your work in a focused, supported manner with the use of all that is at hand in a professional studio: books, samples of great clay art, tools and experience. Making, decorating, design and firing will be discussed as we go along. There will be a project each day that requires investigating a different way to use clay using handbuilding techniques. You can follow this curriculum or come with a special project in mind: Whatever suits.
I will be selling the clay that is compatible for my studio:
The cost of clay will include firing and materials fee: $35/bag*
* note: many students already are studio members at other studios: therefore glazing and glaze firing hasn't been factored into this week. If you want to take the pots away to glaze and fire elsewhere the price will be $25/bag from me or you can bring whatever clay you feel comfortable using. I intend to bisque bisque fire your work. If you are interested in doing a day of glazing and decorating with me: this will be at a later date and you need to buy the clay I am using at $35/bag. A decorating day fee will be $100/person. .
